Patient-specific computational evaluation of stiffness distribution in ascending thoracic aortic aneurysm

چکیده
Quantifying local aortic stiffness properties in vivo is acknowledged as essential to assess the severity of an ascending thoracic aneurysm (ATAA). Recently, LESI (local extensional identification) methodology has been established quantify non-invasively ATAAs using electrocardiographic-gated computed tomography (ECG-gated CT) scans. The aim current study was determine most sensitive markers ATAA estimation with hypothesis that direct measures could better detect high-risk patients. A cohort 30 patients (12 BAV and 18 TAV) referred for size evaluation by ECG-gated CT were recruited. For each patient, Q evaluated whilst computational flow analyses also performed derive hemodynamics such wall shear stress (WSS). strong positive correlation found between pulse pressure (R = 0.644 p < 0.001). Interestingly, a significant age 0.619 0.032), but not TAV −0.117 0.645). No WSS locally. There no difference either (Q 3.6 ± 2.5 MPa.mm vs 5.3 3.1 ATAAs, 0.094). Future work will focus on relating patient-specific rupture risk larger cohorts confirm promising interest methodology.

Preliminary Biomarkers for Identification of Human Ascending Thoracic Aortic Aneurysm
BACKGROUND Human ascending thoracic aortic aneurysms (ATAAs) are life threatening and constitute a leading cause of mortality in the United States. Previously, we demonstrated that collagens α2(V) and α1(XI) mRNA and protein expression levels are significantly increased in ATAAs. METHODS AND RESULTS In this report, the authors extended these preliminary studies using high-throughput proteomic...
متن کاملGender-Specific Differences in Outcome of Ascending Aortic Aneurysm Surgery
OBJECTIVES Gender specific differences receive increasing attention and are known to affect the outcome of cardiovascular diseases. We investigated possible risk-factors for gender-specific differences in ascending aortic aneurysm surgery. METHODS 548 consecutive patients (male: n = 390, age: 58.3 ± 14.4 years; female: n = 158, age: 65.3 ± 12.9 years) with aneurysms of the ascending aorta eli...
متن کاملRuptured thoracic aortic aneurysm in patient with systemic lupus erythematosus.
It is reported a ruptured descending thoracic aortic aneurysm in a 25-year-old systemic lupus erythematosus woman who underwent 19 years steroid therapy. She was treated with 2 endovascular stent-grafts, discharged from hospital 13 days after the procedure in good health. Three months later she returned with hemorrhagic shock due to high digestive hemorrhage secondary to an aortic-esophageal fi...
متن کاملAortic Pseudo aneurysm 3 Years after Interposition Tube Graft for Acute Dissection of Ascending Aorta
Introduction: Patients with primary acute aortic dissection are at higher risk of complications, including increasing aortic aneurysm diameter, aortic rupture, aortic pseudo aneurysm, and recurrent aortic dissection. Case presentation We presented the case of a recurrent pseudo aneurysm and rupture of the aorta in the distal a...
